YUGOO DESIGN / FAQ
A few things to know
How Yugoo fits into your tools, your work and your own methods.
Is Yugoo another collection of skills?
No. We’re exploring a way for people and AI to use skills together to think through and develop ideas. Yugoo Design is an open-source plugin for your existing agent app. It brings the methods behind your skills together with interactive panels, proactive guidance and project management.
When the work is complex, we want you to take part as a solution takes shape: see what AI is proposing, consider what fits your situation and what needs to change, and express your judgment. Yugoo connects three parts of that process:
1. Turn information into something you can inspect and edit. We pair a skill with Design Panels suited to its content, extending it into a Skill Bundle. A process can become a diagram, rules can go into a table, and options can sit side by side on cards. Discuss what you see with AI or edit it directly, then let AI continue from the saved result. Declarative UI and A2UI define these panels, giving each method a suitable form of interaction.
2. Offer guidance and bring the work together, like a consultant. A good consultant starts by understanding your goal, the work you’ve already done and what remains unclear, then chooses a suitable method from their toolkit. We want the agent to do the same: suggest useful next steps, check whether conclusions from different parts fit together, highlight where they need to be reconciled or revised, and help you bring them into a complete solution.
3. Keep the work in a project you can return to. The solution is saved in a project. When your ideas change or you want to explore further, you can return to the work, make changes and compare versions, building on the discussions and decisions that came before.
We believe a good AI application should help people understand, think and express themselves, so people and AI can stay aligned. You should be able to work through the details and bring them together into a complete solution.
The included Web App Kit is a starting point for trying this approach. It covers questions, features, flows, permissions and UI/UX, helping you think through an app before you start vibe coding. Each area has panels where you can inspect and edit the details, then consider how the designs fit together. You can also adapt the Kit, add Bundles or create a new Kit for another kind of work.
Existing skills can contribute, too. Matt Pocock’s Grilling (formerly Grill Me), for example, offers useful methods for asking questions and clarifying decisions. Yugoo gives methods like these more ways to help: some questions are best explored in conversation; other choices are easier to understand and weigh in a diagram, table or side-by-side comparison. The conclusions can then become part of a project you keep working on.
The Web App Kit also draws on community skills such as Grilling and UI/UX design methods. You can import and adapt a skill you use into a Bundle, keeping its methods and adding a suitable output structure and interactive panels. We want Yugoo and existing skills to strengthen each other as we explore how people and AI can work together over time.
Product principlesIs Yugoo only for Web App or product design?
No. We include the Web App Kit so you can start with a ready-made set of methods and experience how Yugoo helps you think through and develop an idea.
Other work needs the same kind of thinking. Planning an event involves its agenda, participants and responsibilities. Designing a game involves rules and player choices. Scheduling shifts involves staffing needs, time constraints and personal preferences. These tasks also need specialist methods, and people can find it difficult to see the information clearly or express the choices they need to make.
In Yugoo, a Bundle focuses on one kind of work or one aspect of a design. A Kit brings several Bundles together around a goal. Its Mindset (mindset.md) describes how to approach the field and use those methods. By adapting the Mindset, Bundle content and panels, you can use Yugoo for different kinds of work.
We welcome Kits and Bundles built from methods you know, along with experience from using them in practice, so Yugoo can gradually support more fields.
Kit sharing and project maintenanceHow does the experience differ between agent apps?
Yugoo uses your agent app’s existing models, conversations and tools. The most visible difference is where you view and edit Design Panels:
1. DeepSeek Harness (DSH), through a native plugin. Panels sit alongside the main conversation, so you can discuss a solution while inspecting and editing it. Yugoo can also use the host’s background subagents for reviews and design suggestions.
2. Codex Desktop and WorkBuddy, through an embedded page. You can talk to the agent and work with panels inside the app. Yugoo’s current Codex Desktop integration is for macOS arm64; WorkBuddy uses its embedded preview.
3. Codex CLI, Claude Code CLI, Qoder CLI and QwenWork, through a web Companion. Yugoo opens a local web page for the panels and connects it to the original agent session. You can follow the conversation and continue it from the page, with less switching between windows.
Another practical difference is whether reviews can run while you continue the conversation. In clients with background subagents, a subagent can check the existing design while you keep working with the main agent. You can look at its suggestions when the review is ready.
Without that background execution, the current agent needs to do the review itself. The conversation shifts to checking the design before returning to the original work. You can turn off automatic GRA and request a review when you need one, confirming it before it runs.
If you haven’t chosen an app yet, we currently recommend DSH and Codex Desktop. The host compatibility guide explains the supported operating systems, app versions and integration routes.
Host compatibilityDo I have to answer every question or use every panel?
No. Yugoo considers your goal, existing work and open questions to suggest a useful next step. The suggestions help you move forward; they don’t require you to complete every question and panel in order.
You can ask for a first draft, compare just two options or leave a question for later. Let AI develop the parts that are clear, then work through the practical details and important choices together.
A Kit’s Mindset can define different ways of working. If a task benefits from a fixed sequence, it can use several Bundles in order. If it calls for exploration, the agent can suggest what to do next as the work develops.
Product principlesWhat are KAG and GRA?
KAG is the project’s knowledge graph. It organizes design content, source material and the relationships between them, helping you see how the parts connect. If you change an approval flow, for example, you can trace its links to roles, permissions, business rules and pages to see what else may need attention. The graph is stored locally in LadybugDB.
GRA is Yugoo’s design review capability. Alongside helping you develop a solution, we want AI to point out questions worth revisiting. It offers suggestions from three perspectives:
- Grounding: do the flows, rules and pages fit together, and does the design reflect the available material and constraints?
- Reflection: which judgments need more evidence, and which questions deserve further research?
- Alignment: which needs remain unclear, and which choices still need your confirmation?
You can ask for a review. In clients that support background execution, reviews can also run automatically according to your settings. The findings come back as suggestions for you to consider and act on.
Knowledge linking and reviewHow is my work saved, and can I keep developing it later?
Yes. Each Design Project has its own local folder containing the design data, supporting material, outputs and the project’s Kit and Bundle definitions. Git tracks versions and changes.
The work remains after a conversation ends. Reopen the project or start another conversation to continue from the saved results. When requirements change, you can ask AI to compare versions, see when a rule changed and read any notes recorded at the time.
We want an idea to grow into a project you can maintain over time. Project files hold the results and history; your agent app continues to manage its own conversations and settings.
Project management and recoveryCan I start with an existing project, documents or code?
Yes. The starting point depends on what you already have:
- An existing Yugoo project: reopen it and continue. For an older design project, follow the migration guide to preserve the original while validating and adapting its content in a new project.
- Documents, screenshots or code: ask AI to reconstruct a design from the material, organizing flows, rules, pages and other content for you to review. The original files are left unchanged.
In DSH, use /yugoo reconstruct <absolute path to materials> to reconstruct a design from existing material. Use migrate for an existing Yugoo Design Project.
The material gives you a way to build on work you’ve already done. Some needs and decisions may never have been written down, though. AI will still need that context from you to check whether the reconstructed design reflects the real situation.
Reconstruct from existing materialsHow do I manage and customize Kits, Bundles and Panels?
Studio is Yugoo’s workbench for managing and customizing Kits and Bundles. Start by exploring the methods a Kit includes and what each Bundle helps you do, then decide what to adapt.
For example, a Bundle’s method might suit your work, but the information it presents may be incomplete for your needs. You can adjust the content it saves, its checks and its UI Panel. If a capability is missing, you can create or import a Bundle and add it to the Kit. An imported Skill can keep its methods while gaining an output structure and interactive panels. Studio versions that support these authoring operations let you edit and preview them in one place.
In DSH, open “Design Studio” from Settings, or ask your agent how to open Studio. The Wiki explains each client’s entry point and the editing and import features supported by the relevant version.
Customization guideHow can I contribute?
We want Yugoo to be useful in more people’s day-to-day work. The right methods and panels for each field take experience to develop. Bring a real use case: tell us what is hard to understand or express, and how you would like AI to work with you.
You can add support for another agent app, turn familiar methods into a Kit or Bundle, improve a Panel, share an example or help with documentation. You’re also welcome to bring a skill you like and explore how it could work with Yugoo.
You don’t have to build a whole Kit to get involved. A concrete problem, an example someone can follow or a documentation fix that saves people time is a useful contribution. Start a discussion in a GitHub Issue or submit a PR; the contribution guide explains how.
